SHOW & CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
Gospel Nativity: Now Behold the Lamb! is a soul-stirring, music-filled retelling of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Set in the heart of Bethlehem and brought to life through vibrant storytelling and electrifying gospel arrangements, this production blends tradition with praise to create an unforgettable theatrical worship experience.
Featuring beloved holiday songs like “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” and “Now Behold the Lamb,” the show invites audiences to feel the joy, hope, and wonder of the Nativity story in a powerful new way. With a live cast of shepherds, angels, wise men, townspeople, and more, Gospel Nativity is not just a performance—it’s a celebration.
We’re seeking spirited performers with strong vocals, storytelling ability, and stage presence. Gospel roots, comedic timing, and ensemble energy are a plus. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a holiday tradition that lifts voices and hearts alike.
Seeking:
Mary – A young woman, betrothed to Joseph; chosen to bear the Son of God
Joseph – A carpenter, betrothed to Mary; protector and earthly father of Jesus
Angel Gabriel – Messenger who appears to Mary and announces the birth
Albert – Shepherd with comedic flair
Sue Ellen – Shepherd with comedic flair
Zachariah – Husband of Elizabeth, father of John the Baptist
Elizabeth – Cousin of Mary, mother of John the Baptist
Caspar – Wise Man bearing gold
Melchior – Wise Man bearing frankincense
Balthazar – Wise Man bearing myrrh
Innkeeper and Wife – Local business owners who turn Mary and Joseph away
The Town Gossips (3 Women) – Bold, outspoken women who "run the town" and add comedic commentary
Townspeople – Community members of Bethlehem for musical ensemble scenes
Herod – The paranoid king whose fear of the prophecy drives the Magi’s journey and brings dramatic tension
Roman Soldiers – Guards in service to Herod; add dramatic presence and movement
Dance Ensemble – Featured in musical numbers and angelic/spiritual interpretations
